The average lifestyle journalist is flooded with tech gadgets. If you want to stand out, you need to come up with something playful and original. Which wasn’t a problem for our Belgian PR team when Ultimate Ears asked them to introduce the new Bluetooth speaker – the WONDERBOOM – among relevant lifestyle media. Challenge: show them the speaker is ‘playful’. Design-wise, but also when it comes to being water and shock proof.
First, we selected seven important media to visit during a press tour. And we didn’t just bring WONDERBOOM speakers, we also provided a real-life ball pit.
We dropped the speakers into this ball pit to show just how shock proof they are. It was then up to the journalists to dive in and retrieve the speaker.
The press tour resulted in a lot of fun, and a lot of media attention for the WONDERBOOM. The seven Belgian editorial offices we visited were: Sanoma, Edition Ventures, De Persgroep, Roularta, Roularta Roeselare, Medialaan and Mediahuis. Here comes the boom!
