Everyone knows the legendary words ‘Ons small step for a man, a giant leap for mankind’, spoken by Neil Armstrong when he first set foot on the moon. Not as many people know that these words were delivered to earth through a Poly headset. LVTPR supports Poly within the Benelux in several PR areas – from guiding Poly through a name change to building thought leadership in the new way of working and expanding awareness for the brand as well as its B2B and B2C products. Armstrong’s words being uttered exactly fifty years ago presented the perfect opportunity for us to join in with the news.
On 16 July, 1969, the entire world was glued to the screen. A huge event for mankind, plenty of reason to look back on fifty years later. Therefore, the space industry itself organized a networking evening in space museum Space Expo, where André Kuipers, Daan Roosegaarde and other well-known names in the industry would speak.
We advised Poly to take part in this event. We made sure that they too were given the room to speak that evening – and we were able to acquire a replica of Neil Armstrong’s headset, the Snoopy, and move it to Space Expo. Needless to say, we ensured that all tier one journalists were present for one-on-one interviews.
The results? An interview with De Telegraaf and Reformatorisch Dagblad, articles in Reformatorisch Dagblad, Computable and Channelweb – as well as a unique spin-off. Thanks to the contacts that were made that evening, the headset was added to the temporary exhibition about the moon landing in Space Expo. This exposition was opened by Poly and other special guests and will be open to the public until 5 January, 2020.
