Spartan Race, the biggest obstacle race brand in the world, first came to the Netherlands in 2017. The brand enlisted the help of LVTPR to alert the media to the event and make sure journalists and bloggers would share their stories of this unique obstacle race with their public. A challenge we – as sports and PR lovers – happily accepted.
The best way to tell the Spartan Race story, is to first experience the race yourself. Therefore, we asked important lifestyle media to volunteer someone for the race in IJmuiden, near Amsterdam. To supply our press lobby with a little extra persuasion, we decided to join the race as well. We ran both the short and the long-distance version.
The Spartan Race’s organization thought it especially important that media wrote about the unique experience of the obstacle race, which included jumping across fire and javelin. And they did. Our close relations with lifestyle media resulted in Glamour and Manners announcing the race beforehand. Journalists from Urban Runners, B4Men and BLVD even joined the race, which was great! As expected, the event led to wonderful stories and images on their website and social media channels. We reached both our clients’ goal and the Spartan Race finish line. Aroo!
